A 35-year-old Far North Queensland man is charged with more than 200 child sex offenses after officers make an allegedly disturbing discovery

A man accused of indecent treatment of children has been charged with more than 200 additional crimes.

Police said the 35-year-old was initially charged with a total of five charges when he was recently arrested in far north Queensland.

But on Saturday, he faced hundreds more charges after detectives allegedly found additional child abuse material on his electronic devices.

Additional charges include 64 counts of indecent treatment and 61 counts of involvement of a child in the creation of child abuse material.

The man was also charged with 42 counts of producing child abuse material, 26 counts of taking a child for immoral purposes and 7 counts of using a transportation service to access child abuse material.

He is due to appear in court in Cairns on Monday.

“The investigation is ongoing and police are providing support to those involved,” police said.
