Bongbong Marcos to government response teams: Watch for aftershocks

MANILA, Philippines – President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. ordered government agencies to remain vigilant for aftershocks following the 6.8-magnitude quake that rocked Sarangani.
Last Friday, Sarangani and the surrounding area were hit by an earthquake that killed at least nine people.

In a video call released to the media on Monday, Marcos told officials of intervention agencies that he had received their reports. The president was in Honolulu at the time to visit the Indo-Pacific Command.

“You all have this at hand, so let’s be vigilant, keep watching, we have to pay attention to aftershocks, because sometimes in aftershocks there are many victims, because they thought it was over, houses were entered, buildings were entered, so let’s watch” then good,” Marcos said.

The Usec Social Welfare and Development Department was present at the appeal. Edu Punay, Department of Health Secretary Teodoro Herbosa and other officials from the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management.
Vice President Sara Duterte serves as the country’s protector while Marcos is abroad. However, she is not visible in the recording sent to the media.
