BREAKING: A’Court fires Governor Plateau

The Abuja Court of Appeal on Sunday invalidated the election of Caleb Mutfwang as governor of Plateau State

While invalidating Mutfwang’s election to the People’s Democratic Party, the Court of Appeal in a unanimous judgment led by Justice Okong Abang ordered the Independent National Electoral Commission to withdraw his return certificate and hand it over to the All Progress Congress governorship candidate, Nentawe Yiltwatda.

PUNCH reports that the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal sitting in Jos had earlier dismissed Nentawe’s petition challenging Governor Mutwanga’s declaration as the duly elected Governor of Plateau State

However, on Sunday the Court of Appeal ruled that “the Tribunal erred in finding that the appellants had no right to challenge the conduct of the election.

“The tribunal was harsh on the appellant, likening her to a person who cried rather than grieved.

“If the appellant finds his neighbor with a goat that is not his property, there is no harm in making a complaint or raising an alarm.”
