Families of deceased police officers will receive $2.2 billion in benefits

The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Egbetokun, on Thursday presented the Settlement Group Life Insurance and IGP Social Welfare Program benefits amounting to N2,276,110,966.80 to the 613 families of police officers who died in active duty.

The checks were presented to the beneficiaries at the Defense Force Headquarters in Abuja on Thursday.

reports that the Life Insurance Program is funded by the Federal Government while the IGP Family Welfare Program is funded by the Nigerian Police.

The IG advised the beneficiaries to use the money for the benefit of the families left behind by the deceased officers.

He noted that the gesture is part of the NPF’s efforts to show sympathy to the families of the deceased police officers and also support them in their daily life challenges.
