Frozen 4 is officially happening (and yes, Frozen 3 isn’t even out yet)

While appearing on “Good Morning America” to promote the newly opened “Frozen World” attraction at Hong Kong Disneyland, Iger decided to drop an ice bomb on those present. After telling the show’s hosts that he had a “little surprise,” Iger confirmed that in addition to the third film, “there may be a ‘Frozen 4’ in the works.” He added:

“But I don’t have much to say about these films at the moment. But Jenn Lee, who created ‘Frozen,’ the original ‘Frozen’ and ‘Frozen 2,’ is hard at work with her team at Disney Animation on not one but actually two stories.”

I speak as someone who liked Frozen (except for Fixer Upper – sorry to those who really liked the trolls in that movie) and thought Frozen II was, well, okay (though if the movie was braver, would have had a full “Thor: Ragnarok” and would have destroyed Arendelle in the end), the prospect of a “Frozen 4” is… kind of exhausting. Don’t get me wrong, it can be great! If someone had told me that Toy Story 4 would be made before Toy Story 3 was released, I might have said the same thing, and yet I felt it turned out to be a surprisingly necessary conclusion to the series (we’ll have to wait and see what happens with “Toy Story 5”, if we are talking about animated sequels). But for now I still have to find out need “Frozen 3” before I do anything else.

That being said, there are apparently two more Frozen sequels coming, so prepare accordingly. Meanwhile, Disney Animation will celebrate its 100th anniversary with “Wish,” which hits theaters on November 22, 2023.
