Congressman George Santos (R-NY) faces a renewed prospect of expulsion from Congress after a House Ethics Committee report found that he defrauded donors, stole from his campaign results and “attempted to fraudulently exploit every aspect of his bid for the House of Representatives his personal financial gain.”
The committee also unanimously recommended referring “substantial evidence” of potential criminal violations to the Department of Justice.
Even before he was sworn into Congress in January, Santos attracted widespread attention as revelations came to light about his false claims on his resume and other parts of his past. He has already faced criminal charges, and the Department of Justice is the latest to bring a number of additional criminal charges against him. per month, including wire fraud and identity theft.
