"Get up and do something" – A UFC fighter pays a high price for provoking his opponent in just a few seconds
MMA fans around the world witnessed an interesting turn of events at UFC Vegas 82 on November 18.
Jonathan Pearce went head-to-head with Joanderson Brito in a featherweight bout in the prelims of the event. The gala took place at the UFC Apex Facility in Paradise, Nevada.
In the second round of the fight, Pearce took full control of his opponent on the ground and began taunting and exchanging words with him.
“Come on, get up and do something,” Jonathan Pearce said.
The decision to chat with the Briton mid-fight didn’t go well for the 31-year-old, as the Brazilian managed to get back on his feet moments later and submitted Pearce with a ninja choke.

With the victory, Joanderson Brito snapped Jonathan Pearce’s five-game winning streak and extended his impressive streak to 4-0. “Tubarao” is 4-1 in the UFC and his overall professional record is 16-3. It is worth noting that 14 of the Brazilian’s 16 victories ended in victories – seven by knockout and seven by submission.
If Brito continues his dominant streak in the multi-billion dollar organization, the 28-year-old could soon secure a spot in the top 15 of the promotion’s featherweight rankings.
Another exciting moment after UFC Vegas 82 was the fights between Amanda Ribas and Luan Pinheiro. The main attraction of the gala will be a strawweight fight between both fighters. In the third round of the event, Ribas performed a spectacular spinning wheel kick towards her opponent and proceeded to knock her out.
The Brazilian received praise for her performance from several MMA fighters such as Jamahal Hill and Paddy Pimblett. Thanks to the victory, Ribas victoriously returned to the organization’s strawweight division on November 18.
