Hudson bushfire, New South Wales: Volunteer firefighter dies when tree falls while battling huge blaze

A volunteer firefighter has died after being struck by a falling tree while fighting a bushfire in Hudson in north-west New South Wales.

The New South Wales Rural Fire Service said other crew members administered first aid to the man until paramedics arrived at the scene near Walgett.

He was taken to a medical facility in Lightning Ridge, where he later died.
