Prime Video has set a winter release date Mr. and Mrs. Smith, is a remake of the 2005 New Regency action comedy directed by Doug Liman and starring Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. All eight episodes will be released on February 2, 2024 exclusively on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories around the world.
The release date was pushed back to 2024 from its originally scheduled November window due to twin strikes in Hollywood.
From co-creators and executive producers Donald Glover (Swarm, Atlanta) and Francesca Sloane (Atlanta, Fargo), in the series Glover plays John Smith and Maya Erskine (PIERO15) as Jane Smith.
In this version Mr. and Mrs. Smith, two lonely strangers get a job for a mysterious spy agency that offers them a glamorous life of espionage, wealth, world travel, and a dream townhouse in Manhattan. Hook? A new identity in an arranged marriage as Mr. and Mrs. John and Jane Smith. Now married, John and Jane take on a risky mission every week while facing a new relationship milestone. Their complex cover story becomes even more complicated as they uncover their true feelings for one another. What’s riskier: espionage or marriage?
In addition to his starring role, Glover co-creates and executive produces the series as part of his overall deal with Amazon Studios.
