Novak Djokovic on the disappearance of children during the tour: "I haven’t seen them in a while, it’s always nice to have them close"
Novak Djokovic concluded his 2023 ATP Finals group stage schedule with a victory over Hubert Hurkacz. However, this may be his last match of the season, because he now needs Jannik Sinner to reach the semi-finals, who will defeat Holger Rune in the group match.
That said, even if the Serb were to withdraw from the tournament, he would have something to look forward to – and spending quality time with his family and children was at the top of the list.
In his post-match press conference, Djokovic spoke about how he missed his children during the tour, noting that he spent a lot of time away from them in the run-up to the season-ending ATP Finals.
Delving into what a typical day is like with his kids away from the tennis court, the World No. 1 said he spends a lot of time outdoors and in the pool.
“It really depends. I like to spend time with my children outdoors as much as possible,” said Novak Djokovic. “Of course it’s a bit cold now. Again, it depends.”
“Of course, it’s a little late now, so we probably like to swim in the pool if we can. We’re just having fun. We have different games that we play. We hug. I haven’t seen them for a long time. It’s always nice to have them close,” he added.

Despite uncertainty over his qualification for the semi-finals of the ATP Finals, Novak Djokovic is set to take the court again.
The Serb said the season is not over for him yet as he still wants to play in the Davis Cup final, the knockout stage of which will take place later this month. Calling it an “important” week, Djokovic said he wanted to help Serbia win a second Davis Cup trophy.
“The season is not over yet,” said Novak Djokovic. “Of course I still don’t know if I will qualify here. But the Davis Cup is next week. I would really like to win the Davis Cup with Serbia. That’s the goal.”
“Next week is an important week for us, for our nation. We will do our best. These are my thoughts and then I will think about the next season,” he added.
Serbia will face Great Britain in the Davis Cup quarterfinals on November 23 in Malaga, Spain.
