One person killed as Sokoto youths resist attacks by bandits

The Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed that one person was killed on Saturday when youths from the community resisted bandits.
Confirming the incident, the spokesman of the state police command, ASP Ahmad Rufa’i, said the bandits, while trying to attack Kwakwala community in Sokoto metropolis, engaged in a shootout with youths in the area.
He said: “Based on the report we have, suspected bandits numbering about 10 armed with cutlasses and weapons attacked a community behind the main campus of Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto.
“The youth of the area resisted the attack, as a result of which the bandits shot one of the youth named Usman, who died instantly.
“Four other youths from Kwawalkwala and Dundaye communities also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the attack.”
However, PPRO assured that the command under the command of Captain Ali Kaigama is doing everything in his power to catch the perpetrators.
