PDP releases Edo government election schedule

The National Working Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party has released a schedule of activities ahead of the Edo State governorship election.
The schedule signed by the party’s National Organizing Secretary, Umar Bature, was released on Thursday after a joint meeting of the party’s Board of Directors and National Executive Committee at its headquarters in Abuja.
According to the schedule, the party congress, during which its candidate for governor will be selected, will be held on February 22, 2024.
PUNCH reports that candidates interested in running for governor will receive a nomination form worth N21 million, while young people between the ages of 25 and 30 will receive a 50% discount on their nomination form fees.
According to the class schedule, registration of old and new members will take place from November 16 to December 7.
December 14 is the deadline for submitting the district register to the Directorate of Organization and Mobilization, while a stakeholder consultation meeting with the National Working Group will be held on December 19–20.
The sale of expression of interest and ad hoc forms for all offices is scheduled for January 10-16, with January 17 being the last day for submission of already completed expression of interest and ad hoc forms.
The review of candidates for the position of governor by the National Working Committee will take place on January 18, 2024.
The sale of nomination forms to candidates who have completed and submitted an expression of interest form is scheduled for January 19-25, with January 27 being the deadline for submitting the already completed nomination form.
February 22 is the gubernatorial primary election, and February 24 is the gubernatorial primary recall election.
