‘SNL’ Monologue: Jason Momoa Says He Loves Playing Aquaman and Reminisces About ‘Baywatch’ Times

Jason Momoa took the reins as guest host Saturday Night Live this week and mentioned his love for playing DC superhero Aquaman and how it was a full circle moment for him.

“I’m very happy to be here. I love this place. I love life. I love waking up and washing my luxurious hair with a full load of shampoo,” Momoa said as host of the NBC sketch show. “I love playing Aquaman because I love the ocean.”

Momoa continued, “Growing up, all I wanted to be was a marine biologist. It makes sense because I’m built like a scientist.

But growing up in Iowa presented problems for young Momoa. The actor revealed this while watching the film In God’s handswhich was filmed in Hawaii, he came up with the idea to move there.

Momoa recalls that when he returned to Hawaii, he “finally got on a TV show called Baywatch.

“I call it the B-word, but I fell in love with acting,” he added. “I only stayed for a few seasons because you really don’t want to get stuck in the ass. And now I feel like my life has come full circle.”

Furthermore, Momoa talked about working to protect oceans and small island nations, speaking about the water company he founded “to eliminate single-use plastic water bottles. Its name is Mananalu.

Momoa said the word means “suck Dasani” in Hawaiian.
