MANILA, Philippines – The deadline to apply for Unified Multi-Use Identification (UMID) cards for members who applied between August 2017 and December 2020 is December 29, 2023.

The Philippine Social Security System (SSS) announced the decision on Tuesday.

According to SSS, unclaimed cards will be discarded after this period.

This action will cover cards returned to SSS by the Philippine Postal Corporation.

“After the deadline, unclaimed cards, including those returned by the Philippine Postal Corporation to SSS after two failed delivery attempts, will be disposed of in accordance with SSS’s retention policy,” SSS said.

The agency also advised citizens to check their UMID card applications through their online account.

“To check the status of their UMID card application, members are advised to log in to their My.SSS portal account at” – it was written.

The member must click on “UMID/SSS Details” under the “MEMBER INFORMATION” tab.

“If the transaction status is ‘Card Generated’, members can collect the card from the SSS branch where the UMID application has been submitted,” he added.

In February 2023 SSS stopped accepting applications for regular UMID cards.

Instead, it now offers a UMID ATM payment card for members who either have existing UMID cards or have pending UMID card applications.
