BEAVERCREEK, Ohio – A gunman opened fire at an Ohio Walmart on Monday night, wounding four people before committing suicide, police said.
The attack occurred around 8:30 p.m. at a Walmart store in Beavercreek, a city of about 50,000 people in the Dayton metropolitan area.
“The current condition of the victims is unknown,” but all were taken to hospitals for treatment, police Capt. Scott Molnar said at a news conference.
Police also said the killer died after apparently shooting himself. His name, motive for the attack and other details were not immediately released.
Police previously said on social media that the store had been cleared and secured and there was no “active threat.”
“We are devastated by what happened at our store in Beavercreek, Ohio. “The situation is still developing and we are working closely with investigators on scene,” Walmart said in a statement.
