The Yobe legislator who overcame the defects of the former APC speaker

Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni on Thursday received Lawan Musa Majakura, the only member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the State House of Assembly who defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Mamman Mohammed, the Governor’s Director of Press and Media, disclosed this information in a statement made available to DAILY POST in Damaturu.

Majakura said he was convinced to leave the PDP for the APC because of the commendable efforts of the Buni-led administration in providing infrastructure to the people of his constituency.

“I want to join hands with you and support you in serving my constituency to improve the lives of my people,” he said.

The Speaker of Yobe State House of Assembly, Chiroma Buba Mashio, said of the decamped lawmaker: “Hon. Lawan Musa Majakura has demonstrated serious commitment to defending the interests of his people on the floors of the assembly.”

According to the Speaker, Majakura’s departure to APC is an advantage for the party and the Yobe State government.

DAILY POST recalls that Lawan Musa Majakura defeated the then Speaker of the House of Representatives Ahmed Lawan Mirwa in the 2023 state assembly elections, causing major political turmoil in the state.
