Xabi Alonso’s side have won 31 points out of a possible 33 this campaign, equaling the record set by Pep Guardiola’s FCB in the 2015-16 season.
Alex Grimaldo, Odilon Kossounou, Jonathan Tah and Nathan Tella scored in a triumphant win over Union Berlin that took their team back to the top of the league.
“The emotions are fantastic at the moment,” said former Spain and Liverpool player Alonso.
